Accident

Postby 1shamrock on Thu Oct 01, 2009 11:15 am

Just wanted to pass along that on Sat. 26 SEP 09 Milbo and Shotgun were out riding when an 18 YO male crossed the center line striking Shotgun's footpeg taking with it his boot and the majority of his heel. He was airlifted to an area hospital and is awaiting whether or not he will lose the leg below the knee. He's in good spirits, all things considered.

Hello to all. I'm sorry for the slow response to the forum, however I must confess that I am not the most computer friendly person in the world. Shotgun is home from the hospital and recovering slowly, however he is doing better than the doctors expected. He did not loose his foot, but he has a long way to go. The reconstructive surgery has several phases and shotgun is dealing with the first right now. His spirits remain high, but somedays are still pretty tough. The road he is on now is a very long ride with alot of bumps and potholes and we're not sure what's at the end, especially since, he has to do this without his bike.....The recovery is expected to to take at least a year, if not longer.

Today, I plan on taking Shotgun to our local HD dealer to explore possible options for Shotgun's riding future. This will also be the first time, Shotgun will see his "Hoka-Hey" FatBob, since the accident. The bike is not totaled, but is still pretty messed up. We are not sure what the future has in store yet, as far as Shotgun's riding. He remains determined to keep it on two wheels and if that turns up as not possible, then he will become a "3 wheeler" type guy, but either way he WILL be back in the "pack".....

Shotgun is less computer friendly than myself and I will be sure to forward all your thoughts and wishes to him.

One last comment for now...This new forum is pretty neat and I wish to commend the "webmaster" for all the work which has been done. I can only imagine what needs to be done to keep it up and running.

Thanks again for your thoughts, and to all "Stay Safe"......Milbo

Milbo,

Thanks for the update on Shotgun!!!!! We have all been wondering how he has been doing. If you have an address for Shotgun it would be great to get it out to everyone so that we could maybe send him some things now and then to keep his spirits up. Let Shotgun know that he is in our thoughts and prayers and we wish him a speedy recovery back to "two wheelin".

Stay safe and ride hard!!!!

Yes, thanks for letting us know how he is doing! Tell him to stay positive (as positive as you can) and stay focused on recovering! And if you get a chance give us an address we can send some things to him. I already have something to send from Indiana Chapter to him. Thanks again Milbo!
